How do you make
Unnoticed Beauty Visible?
Using Photography to Highlight Overlooked Elements of Life
(Hover to View Meta Data)
Week 1
Shimmering Sculptures
Macro lens used to expose the fine crystal detail of a snowflake that is typically unseen by the human eye.

Count my Spots...
Photo through macro lens of a ladybug traversing a pinecone. Reveals fine detail of the ladybug face, exoskeleton topography, and pinecone texture.
Let the Good
Times Roll
B&W shot of a 1930's Ford truck being lost to the tall brush. The truck may be 'rustic,' but its happy memories still resonate with its owner.

Week 2

A Brief Starry Messenger
Long exposure image of a comet passing overhead. Its mysterious beauty, which is revealed exclusively at night, is enhanced by the camera.
Grandma's Hands
Though her hands appear rough and spotted from age and hard work, for me they bring a feeling of comfort and wisdom.

Bee Reflective
A yellow jacket studying its own beauty in a reflection in the water. Do insects notice the same beauty that we do?
Week 3
All Are Welcome
The beauty is not in the geometric arrangement of the metal signs, but in the welcoming gesture they extend to people from all locations and nationalities.

Post-Bloom Appeal
Often a flower claims the center of attention for its vivid bloom. Instead, the fuzzy curls of this seed pod caught my attention...especially in macro scale.
A Change of Light
Using photography to bring out the less obvious beauty in subjects...such as a shell's shape and hard to witness texture.

Week 4

Silent by Day.
Luminous by Night.
Long exposure of the northern lights and night sky. Their spectacular light show is only visible at wee hours of the night. Cameras further their beauty making the colors more vibrant and stars more visible.
More than a Rusty ol' Tractor
This tractor, while now out of commission, still carries its importance as a past means for the family's livelihood. The lens flare from the sunset adds extra beauty to the winter setting.

Who am I?
This bird impresses with its captivating eye and brilliant white coat. Who would have guessed it's just a pesky old seagull?
Week 5
Hidden Hearts
These iconically shaped flowers hide under the leaves to escape the spring sun. A magnified photo can highlight the small water droplets inside the blooms.

It's Not (just)
About the Hunt
While the hunt brings out the excitement in young kids to find the most eggs, the real meaning of the experience brings a community together.

Secretive Searcher
This crab spider's color blends with the vibrant tones of the daffodil as it secretly waits for a meal.
